Classic Vbar

The “Classic”, is the original, and in many ways the best. At 8 feet long, it is simple and substantial. There are no moving parts, and the boat rests on 1 inch thick pads that are 4 inches wide. This is what most paddlers get.

I probably have over 20,000 miles with Cliff’s racks. They are the best in the market. PERIOD.

I’ve tried several different types of racks for my surf skis over the years. Some damaged my boats (J-racks); others made loading the boats a royal pain and I was never confident that the boats were totally secure, especially in high winds. Besides that, It always took several minutes to thread the straps properly so that the boats were secure, but not so tight to cause damage. . . and make sure to have one twist so they don’t whine in the wind. I’ve had the classic Goodboy racks for 18 months now, and still chuckle every time I load the boats; it is such a breeze to prop the boats into the Vbars, throw two quick bungees over the bars and head off… the whole process takes about 30 seconds, and the boats are always secure. I’ve even traversed bay-bridges in gale-force winds without the boats shifting or being damaged. The only, very slight drawback to these racks is that mounting or removing the rack from your car takes a few minutes longer than with other types of racks. BUT, if you don’t remove them every time you paddle, you more than save that time in the speed of loading your boats. I recommend them to everyone who paddles a long boat; best by far!
